Many people find shape-rich dripstone caves or glittering ice caves beautiful. But what makes them so valuable for science? Unlike the land surface, which is subject to constant changes, naturally formed caves can be extremely long-living. Traces of the past are sometimes preserved for millions of years.

The new permanent exhibition at the Architekturzentrum Wien provides insights into the most extensive and comprehensive collection on Austrian architecture of the 20th and 21st centuries. At the centre is the investigation of key exponents, including well-known and less well-known objects. Seven Hot Questions bring Cold Storage to life.

Lieblingsstücke, Neuzugänge, Kurioses … Präsentiert werden Stücke aus den Sammlungen, der Bibliothek und dem Archiv des Volkskundemuseum Wien. Mitarbeiter*innen aus unterschiedlichen Tätigkeitsbereichen haben eine ganz persönliche Auswahl getroffen. Dabei haben emotionale oder auch inhaltliche Zugänge die Entscheidung beeinflusst. Die kleine Schau gibt Einblick in die vielfältigen und umfangreichen Sammlungsbestände und Materialgruppen.

In spring 2022 for the first time in Austria the Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien is devoting a comprehensive retrospective show to the British artist David Hockney. Hockney, one of the most multifaceted and influential artists of the present day, has been experimenting for more than 60 years with the media of painting, drawing and graphics.

The concept for the exhibition is a focus on black queer history. With February being known for being Black History Month (BHM) in the USA and Canada, we will use this opportunity to highlight and discuss Black Queer History in the context of Vienna. Especially since our daily media consumption is very much influenced by the US anyway, the online platforms will be on alert and everybody will get their share of BHM somehow through screens.

Das Ausstellungsprojekt WHITENESS AS PROPERTY unternimmt den Versuch, Besitzverhältnisse, die von Rassismus durchzogen sind, aus einer ökonomischen, materialistischen Perspektive zu hinterfragen.
Der Fokus der Ausstellung liegt auf kritischen ästhetischen Praktiken, die in Bezug auf Eigentum und Besitz entwickelt werden. Es werden künstlerische Positionen gezeigt, die die Selbstverständlichkeit des historischen und gegenwärtigen Eigentums an immer schon rassisierten Subjekten und Objekten durch spezifische Untersuchungen von Dingen und Materialien infrage stellen.
